Mt. Eblan: The Union
μ - εγλ 1999 November 10
Kitas, a man in his thirties wearing a dusty green jacket and a knit cap, rocked the crate gently back on a dolly. He grunted as he rolled into the base of the old pagoda. The place gave him the creeps. All over Wutai Island, old Pagodas like this stood as testaments to the primal gods the Wutaians worshipped. This pagoda was since abandoned.
And occupied by the Anti-Shinra Union. For the last three years, the Union's struggle against the global megacorporation Shina Power Co. raged. The early days were rough but then they found Tetsuya. Tetsuya was an older man and a high ranking executive in the Weapons Development Department at Shinra. His greed outshined his loyalty. The Union's founder, the Death God of the Battlefield and the best explosives expert Kitas had ever seen, cut a deal with Tetsuya. He diverted an entire shipment of proto-Golems, Shinra's latest warmachine, to the Union in Costa del Sol. However... the Turks showed up and burnt it all to the ground. They lost most of their forces that day, and the Death God.
Kitas, under Tetsuya's leadership, rebuilt the Union. Tetsuya managed to divert more experimental weapons and eventually, they set up shop in Wutai. While the Wutaians hadn't biten on just yet, surely they'd need these machines to combat SOLDIER in the ongoing war. Kitas scoffed as he settled the crate in line with all the others. Under the Death God, the Union was active. They actively fought against Shinra. Now, however, they simply trafficked arms to Shinra's enemies. Were they really following their ideals? It was hard to say.
"This one isn't marked from Shinra," Kitas said.
Tetsuya, the executive himself, wore a brown suit under a trenchcoat and a hat. Even now, he tried not to show his face to the Union troops more than necessary. "Some of these we've collected from around the world. Shinra isn't the only one making arms. This thing was collected from the countryside. Weapons Development acquired it, hoping it'd be a prototype for a new kind of Golem. Careful, it's a bit temperamental." Tetusya patted the crate and then turned around. "Come on, Kitas, the envoy from Wutai should be here any minute."
The Toysaurus was left in the crate. A small crack near the top let light in.

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
A tapping noise... was that the signal?
Was there a signal? I don’t remember.
Where am I? I... I must leave.
A bone white hand reaches up towards the light and probes around, testing the strength of the wood and the diligence of the shipping workers. Both are found lacking. With a sigh and a creak the lid of the crate is forced upwards and a featureless mask appears in the newly formed gap. It slowly looks back and forth, seemingly taking in its new surroundings.

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
After breaking out of his crate, the create finds himself in a long line of similar crates as various machines, guns, and other weapons are being sorted for a major arms deal. They were inside a large old Pagoda with holes in the roofing structure from years of disrepair. Numerous Union soldiers moved above working with the crates and setting up a rather robust looking warmachine in the outer courtyard.
The Union Soldiers. They had grabbed the automaton and shoved it in that box. Was it willingly? Did the thing understand it was being sold as a weapon of war?
A shape moved within the shadows of the of the crates at the far end of the pagoda. Who was hiding?

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Everything was a little cloudy but seeing the soldiers helped to solidify one thought.
I was captured.
And with that thought came a flood of memories. Waking up on that table in the empty house. The nights spent alone waiting for the master. Then the soldiers coming...
He went along with the soldiers peacefully for there was no reason not to. In fact, he was hoping they were taking him to the master but after what he just heard, that certainly does not seem the case.
Seeing that things were mostly clear, he quietly slid out of the top of the box.
It would have been a freighting thing to watch if you were unprepared for the sight. A shiny mannequin with a featureless face comes crawling out on its own accord from the shipping box, its porcelain skin shining everywhere the moonlight touches except where the blue whorls that covers its body are located. Its movements a rare dichotomy, jerky yet graceful and precise. Inhuman.
As the mannequin man touched down he sensed movement at the end of the pagoda.
Not soldiers, why would they need to hide in shadow? Perhaps another... what did they call me? Golem.
Looking down, he noticed how much he glowed from the moonlight. He moved into the shadows and towards the movement he saw near the back of the pagoda.

"Shit," said a voice from the shadows. "What the hell is that thing?"
As the porcelain doll came closer, he could see who was talking. It was a tall, thin man with slicked back orange hair, a rather nice suit and a lit cigarette in his mouth. Some stealth expert... The man, even in the shadows, was wearing shades. He fumbled around with something in his hands but realized the Doll had come too close. He stopped and stood very still, taking a long drag on the cigarette before dropping it the ground and putting it out with his shoe.
"All right, all right. You caught me."

The mannequin watches all of this with their head slightly cocked to the side.
"N-n-no. I am the o-o-one who i-i-is caught. I-i-i must leave."

The man, Rejenndo, pulled his shades down just a hair to look at the doll. "You aren't exactly what they'd call a security drone are you?" He stepped along the wall for a moment to get a different angle on the automaton and then said, "What are you, anyway? And who caught you?"
Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
He looks down at his hands, opening and closing them a few times.
“I’m a-a-afraid I don’t kn-n-ow what I am. But it w-w-was the soldiers tha-a-at captured me.”
He turns his blank face to the man, “why are y-y-ou here?”

The man in the suit visibly relaxed. He reached into his jacket, pulled out a smooth gun-metal case, withdrew a cigarette with three gold bands and lit it with a match he struck off his shoe. He inhaled deeply. "Well good news, friend, I'm here to get all these boxes back to their rightful owners. You came out of that box over there, that means I need to get you back to your rightful owner. How does that sound?"
He then extended his gloved hand. Would the doll shake it?

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Back to the master!
“Tha-a-at would be agreeable.”
Not knowing what to do, the mannequin copied the gesture of the man in front of him.

The man smiled. He grabbed the doll's hand and shook it. "That means we have a deal. Name is Rejendo. Friends call me Rej."
He grabbed the doll and pulled him close, looking down the rows of crates. The Wutai Envoy had arrived. It was a man in layered armor with a helmet that obscured his face. He had several guards. He was speaking with several of the Union members. Rejendo shook his head.

“I-I-I am Faulty,” he says as he is pulled close. “Can I be-e-e of any assistance with your task?”
He watches the arrival of the Envoy impassively.

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
"Actually, you can," Rejendo said. He pulled a stick metal tube with wires and a small blinking light from his suit. "These are very powerful bombs. We need to place them on the structural pillars. See, the leader of the Union, a man named Kitas, has captured a very important Weapons Expert from my boss. I need to go save that man. You take these three bombs, see those pillars there, there, and there? Try to place them without getting caught. I want you to meet at that window there when you're done. Got it?"
He offered Faulty three bombs.

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Faulty reaches out and takes the bombs placing them in his.... oh wait. He’s not wearing clothes. He holds them.
“I-I-I will do as you-u-u say.”
He then goes off to place the bombs at the foot of each pillar, staying to the shadows as much as possible.

As Rejendo moved off, he glanced back at Faulty. Well, this couldn't go wrong could it?
After placing the third bomb, the crafty human-sized doll moved on but was caught by Testuya. He cocked his rifle and pressed it into the doll's back. "Hold it right there. What the hell are you doing out of your crate? Who activated you?"

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Faulty froze as he felt the gun press into his back, he didn’t know what it was exactly but he knew it could do some damage.
Not one to lie he replied, “I-I-I’m escaping. As for who-o-o activated me,” he cocked his head to the side, “I d-d-don’t know.”
Which was true, though maybe not what Tetsuya was actually asking.

Tetsuya shook his head. "Oh, you're one of the non-Shinra prototypes, huh? Wow, pretty advanced. Come on. Let's get you up front for the demonstration."
Tetsuya holstered his sidearm. Would Faulty follow?

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Well, he was out manned and out gunned so... yea, he followed. There was also this little inkling in his brain that made him want to follow the order, what was that?
As he was taken to the stage he would stand where ever he was asked.

Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Kitas stood on a raised platform with a rather violent looking robot. It had a sharp head, several blades for hands, and a rotating bladed hover-orb that allowed it to remain upright. Bloody carcasses of beasts lay in piles on the deck.
"As you can see, these machines are designed for long-term endurance and even with fighting SOLDIER in mind. Weapons Research Department wanted to outshine the Shinra freakshows," he explained to the assembled Wutaian envoys. "It's costly, sure, the Anti-Shinra Union has spared no expense to bring the Nation of Wutai a formidable techno-army."
"We need to see another demonstration," said the head envoy. "Killing beasts isn't impressive."
"Here," Tetsuya said walking up with Faulty. "Test this one against the Slasher. Go on, get up there and kill that thing for those fine folks over there. Show them what you can do." He'd shove Faulty toward the stage. "This one here isn't what we'd call Shinra property. It's a rogue device and was hard for us to capture. Should be worthy of your test.

“M-m-May I have a weapon?”
There was definitely no way way he would be surviving this without one... right? Now that he searched his mind he wasn’t sure... what even were his fighting abilities...

Tetsuya grabbed his arms and inspected them. What exactly was he looking for? "Yeah... hey what do you want? Figured you had something built in."
Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Did he have something built in... He searched himself mentally. It didn’t feel like he had anything, but there was just so much he was unsure of.
But back to the matter at hand, “spear, p-p-please.”

Tetsuya walked over to one of the Wutaians. "Let's try that spear. Well come on, do you want your demo or not? We're going to show you just how impressive Shinra tech is, ok?" The warrior handed over his spear. Tetsuya then passed it to Faulty. "Give 'em hell, best you can. Don't worry. We'll patch you up afterward."
Re: Mt. Eblan: The Union
Faulty wasn’t completely sure what to do here. He certainly wasn’t interested in battling this thing or showing off as a product of war, but he was also surrounded and was not in much of a position to refuse. His only real hope at this moment was that the bombs would go off soon and provide a distraction. Until then...
Faulty took the the weapon and inspected it, tested its heft. It felt good enough. Holding the weapon felt natural and he did ask for it without even a moments thought. Hopefully he really knew how to use it.
He turned and faced the war machine that was a few times larger than himself, settling into a low, wide stance. He’d wait for the other machine to make the first move.
(Crap, I don’t have my stats on my phone. Gotta put them up tonight.)
